School Program 2010

During the Month of February, National Dental Health Month, we spoke to over 1,000 area students about the importance of Oral Hygiene. We asked each classroom to decorate a toothbrush depicting Oral Health and our Patients voted on their favorite. We received many, many wonderful and creative entries.
Congratulations to Mrs. Christopher's Fourth grade class at Crane Elementary. This is a picture of Captain Toothbrush - the front side of his cape tells a wonderful story of Captain Toothbrush and his fight against tooth decay. Great Job !

Captain Toothbrush
There he was, leaning up against the side of the cup relaxing. It was a quiet time of day. Time for Bradley Toothbrush to dry out and relax. All of a sudden, his bristles began to twitch! Someone was drinking a soda and had ingested way too much sugar! He could sense the problem was coming from the living room. He pushed the tile behind him and the door to his secret room opened. He pulled out his secret cape from his trunk and put it on. Suddenly he is Captain toothbrush! He quickly pulls on his belt with his tooth saving supplies. He checks to make sure it has his floss, mouthwash toothpaste, toothbrush, mirror, scaler, and a tongue cleaner. He stepped out of his room and dove into the drain. After a fast wild ride he came out into the sink in the kitchen! Captain Toothbrush then flew through the air and found a girl on the couch. She was sound asleep with an empty bottle of soda beside her. Captain Toothbrush turned on his bright, gleaming smile (so he could see) and flew into her mouth. There on her tooth were several plaque germs. The germs were sticking to the tooth and getting ready for a tasty meal. He pulled out his toothbrush, toothpaste and trusty scaler and knocked those vicious monsters off the tooth. He lassoed the escaping plaque bugs withy his handy dental floss. The tooth was saved! Before he left, a scrub of the tongue and swish of mouthwash killed the girl’s bad breath. This mission is complete, another tooth saved. Captain Toothbrush flew off to get ready for his next fight against tooth decay!

Dolphin User's Meeting March 4-6, 2010

Recently, several team members traveled to Las Vegas for the annual Dolphin User’s meeting. Dolphin Management and Imaging is the software we use for all aspects of patient care: patient records, scheduling and correspondence. In a nutshell, it is what runs our office!

We attended courses to learn the newest software improvements to utilize our computer system to its fullest extent. We are very excited about the newest release of 3D Imaging. This will allow Dr. Kaufman to take specialized x-rays to fully diagnose your treatment plan. From a patient’s perspective, you will soon see more interactive videos and tools throughout your treatment--both chairside and on our website. As always, our goal is to provide you with the best orthodontic experience possible.

Holiday Charity Donation

This holiday season Kaufman Orthodontics has selected Camp Good Days & Special Times to share in some holiday cheer! Sadly, most of us have known someone with cancer and would agree it is devastating when a child has been diagnosed with cancer. Therefore to help out this special group, we will donate a portion of all replacement retainer fees and broken bracket fees to this great organization. We will also be collecting donations at our office. As a thank you for any donation, we will hang a snowflake with your name on it up in our office!
Ask us for more information at your next appointment!
Happy Holidays!

October is National Orthodontic Month!

The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that a certified orthodontist, such as Dr. Kaufman, evaluate all children by the age of seven. While most children at this age are not ready to begin full orthodontic treatment, many young patients have traumatic bites or abnormal growth problems that can be treated much easier if diagnosed early.

Much is happening with a child’s dental development during this time, and we want children to be aware of how their current dental health will have an impact on their future, overall health and well being. Developing good oral health habits at this age will benefit their lives.

Our Patient Appreciation Party 2009 was a Grand Slam!!

On August 1st, 2009, we held our annual patient appreciation party. Dr. Kaufman provided tickets to a Rochester Red Wings game to his patients and their families, and entertained them between the innings with some prizes and give-aways! It was an awesome night for a baseball game, and a perfect way to thank all of our patients for making our jobs so fun. Thank you to all of our patient families who attended our patient appreciation party!
We had an awesome time and hope you all did as well.
Visit us at http://www.toothmover.com/ to see more fun photo's, and see our video re-cap of the party on YouTube, key word Kaufman Orthodontics. Thanks again everybody...we love you all!

KEEP YOUR SMILE SAFE

With summer in full swing, it's the perfect time to discuss safety, particulary for your teeth. We here at Kaufman Orthodontics have already seen several sports related accidents, some quite serious, and all which could have been avoided by using mouthguards. Dr. Kaufman reccomends mouthguards for ALL sports, regardless of if you have braces or not. If you do have braces, and need a mouth guard, please call us and ask for one, or ask us at your next visit, and we will happily provide you with one that is meant for atheletes with braces. If you do not have braces, you may purchase one at any sporting goods store. The "Shock Doctor" is a great mouth guard, and is available at many local sporting goods stores. You can check them out at www.shockdoctor.com and find a store near you that sells them.
We can't stress enough the importance of keeping your smile safe. Please don't have your summer ruined by an accident that could have easily been avoided. Please use a mouth guard and make sure your friends are using them too!

Thanks again,
Dr. Kaufman and Team
